Personal Growth via Video
January 29, 2008
Our mission is to help our clients with their personal growth by using
video to share their message. As this world gets smaller more
opportunities arise every day.
I was talking to a friend yesterday and the subject came up of how
important it is to be yourself and stand for your values. How true. With
so much information overload and data coming at us constantly, unless we
have a strong anchor into who we are and what we believe we can be
easily overwhelmed.
Video is such a great tool for making your niche known and furthering
and empowering your personal growth. As you probably know, the secret to
the Internet is to appeal to those who are like minded. You don’t need
everyone - just the customers or friends who are drawn to what you have
to offer.
It doesn’t matter what area of interest you have. With the fast rate of
change it can be so easy to get nuts over how quick things change. One
could spend all their time just keeping up with new trends.
personal grwoth via video becomes a useful avenue when you know who you
are and what you want to stand for with your customers. Video can help
you keep refining the message and those who resonate with what you have
to offer will find you. It always works out - like attracts like.

Web Video Secrets - The Key to Success
January 26, 2008
Everything is made or lost in the first 30 seconds. That’s it. Fat city or break the bank. It all depends on how savvy you are about harnessing and putting to work the secrets that makes web video so killer powerful.
Once you step back, take a good look, and really start to get it, it all becomes very clear. So let’s kick into gear and take a look under the hood.
Keep in mind, by leveraging these secrets you’ll be creating the best marketing messages and video campaigns for your product or service so it’s worth your while to hold these concepts close.
At Media1250, one of the first things we focus on with our clients is the mutual agreement that we are now dealing with the big one, the Super Bowl of Marketing. The number one American pastime. Yes, that’s right, the Sacred Tube. Television.
We are not in Kansas anymore. (Unless of course we are watching a rerun of The Wizard of Oz…)
We are raised on TV. According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV-watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube.
The power of television. We are drawn to moving, dynamic imagery. We will always have our attention captured by a moving image vs a static image. We’re trained that way whether we want it or not.
Now, for the first time in the history of the web, technology has caught up and we can make it happen: create the TV experience and have it our way. As we write, more companies are starting their own Internet TV programs. We are - take a look at our Media1250 Show - it’s in production as we speak.
We can help you get in the game. Remember, the early ones win.
What’s more, if you haven’t noticed, network TV is scrambling fast. The Internet is rapidly becoming the platform for television and movies. The networks are transferring programming to the Internet as fast as they can and tossing big bonuses to brainstorms on how to monitize the shows. Everything is changing.
To really get how important moving images and our integration (um… addiction?) of tv is to our lifestyles, let take a second to drill down into these stats from the Nielson study:
Starting with Commercialism…
- Number of 30-second TV commercials seen in a year by an average child: 20,000
- Number of TV commercials seen by the average person by age 65: 2 million
- Total spending by 100 leading TV advertisers in 1993: $15 billion
$15 Billion. Yikes.
Now lets look at more stats on our worship of the Third Eye…
Family Life…
- Number of hours per day that TV is on in an average U.S. home: 6 hours, 47 minutes
- Number of hours of TV watched annually by Americans: 250 billion
- Number of videos rented daily in the U.S.: 6 million
So, suffice to say, we are here right now to help you create rich media and TV/Internet Movies, online training… the list is huge… the point is that you now have the power.
Give us a call - let’s talk. Together we can make this happen for you. You’ll be glad you did.
15 Minutes of Fame? Bye Bye.
January 26, 2008
Andy Warhol rolled over today in his soup can. The truth has become apparent: the 15 Minutes Decades are long gone. The 1968 pop statement declaring a disappointingly brief 15 minutes on the elevated throne of celebdom is now old hat. Kaput. Zippo. Done.
Yes, 15 minutes always seemed more like the life span of a fruit fly. But that’s the way it used to be. Why?
Because the powers that were ( in 1968, now long retired…) had the control on who and what was seen or heard. That all has changed with the Internet.
The 24×7 availability, cost effectiveness, and world wide distribution of the Net has blown all the doors off the hinges on how a company communicates with their customers.
The most powerful tool? Video!
I do think Andy would love the way things are changing. It’s now about electives.
You can reach your customers with video on your website for as long as you want. As often as you want. And wait, there’s more… you can hone your message down to the utmost niche and as a special bonus, the more you actually do hone down to specific, exacting niches, the more successful you’ll be.
Austin, Tx folks understand that principle really well. (Why, I do believe that’s what started Whole Foods on their journey…)
Some of our clients release new videos each week. So can you. That’s what we do. We partner with you.
15 minutes? How about unlimited access - unlimited time on your customers radar. After all, you only care about becoming famous to the people who are interested in your product or service.
As long as you’re saying something we want or need to hear, we’re all ears.
Only you and your SME’s (*see Planet of the Subject Matter Experts) can deliver the knowledge and value that makes your viewers so loyal. And that is true. We do become loyal to the brands that never let us down. And again, you are now in control.
Sorry Andy.

The Magic of Video Post Marketing
January 25, 2008
The spirit of Merlin is alive and well. The science of alchemy lives and is doing quite well, thank you. What is this magic, you say?
The magic of video post marketing. That’s a mouthful so let’s say very simply what it means and exactly how you can get started.
Ok, first of all, the “post marketing” refers to the fact that you have the opportunity (and yes, you should take it) to post your videos to the myriad of YouTube clones that populate the Net.
These sites reproduce like rabbits. You take a lunch break and when you come back there is another one.
All the better to market your message.
Austin Alchemists Tip #1: Posting your video on multiple sites is not only free but gets you high ranking with search engines.
Not all are exact clones, by no means, however what they all have in common is this:
- You control how often and how many videos are circulated/posted (they need videos - they want content)
- You can advertise your company, product, or service for FREE (plus as often as you want)
- You control how your videos are tagged or displayed (affects search and public perception)
- The more you’re seen (eyeballs i.e. marketing impressions), the more the specific audience for your product or service has a chance to find you (again, you don’t want everyone’s customers, just yours - the ones who are a perfect match for your company)
Austin Alchemists Tip #2: Wise is the Sorceress who shows her own product; for she shows how it is designed to be used, the benefits of her product, and why you need it - now! She who is in control, indeed. Video Post Marketing lets you run the show (literally).
To get started on a Video Post Marketing Campaign just give us a call @ 512.553.0822.
We’ll work with you in designing how to create a release schedule/campaign strategy/segment your videos per market/and handle all of the encoding and distribution outlets.
Then you watch your marketing turn to gold via the magic of the Net.
Why You Need Web Video
January 25, 2008
Web video is rapidly becoming the standard medium for web advertising. Video grabs attention with sight, sounds, and motion and tells your story more effectively than any other medium. Add to the mix that video is cost effective and personable and that creates a mighty tasty cake - a winning combination.
As web video continues to take it’s rightful place as the smart path for companies to increase online sales and boost profits, it’s important to step back, take a look at the numbers and marvel at just how fast things are taking off.
Ubiquitous, indeed. (harrumph…)
First, lets look at how quickly the presence of online video has taken over.
YouTube recently announced that it now serves 100 million videos per day. 100 million!
The site served 2.5 billion videos to nearly 20 million unique visitors over the course of June, 2007.
According to the latest Hitwise stats, the company has a 29% share of the US multimedia entertainment market and YouTube videos account for 60% of all videos watched online.
MySpace Video holds their position at second place with 19%, while Yahoo Video, Google Video, AOL Uncut, Metacafe and other players trail behind.
Look at the growth rate in popularity in end users: regarding the number of videos being uploaded… well, it’s truly amazing… YouTube receives 65,000 uploads per day!
Fade up the music… “the times they are a changin’…”
According to US-based firm eMarketer, spending on video and advertising is anticipated to rise to $3 billion by 2010.
That’s two years, folks!
Now look at the opportunity here…
Currently less than 1% of websites incorporate streaming video, yet there is a captive audience of 1 billion web video users. There is a demand, and savvy internet marketers will feed it.
Again, those who act first own the market share.
Internet TV: Good News for Small Business
January 25, 2008
(Austin, Texas) Sometimes when the power shifts, well… it shifts way beyond what you thought was even possible. So hold on. We’re heading into the land of Internet TV. Where any company (or individual for that matter) can have their own show.
Internet TV was a hot topic at SXSW. Maybe it’s time for your Central Texas company to start broadcasting…
But first, let’s backtrack several years ago. Where were we standing? The same place many people stood as they scratched their heads, skeptical and hesitant about how something like the “world wide web” could impact their lives.
Although the first proposal for the World Wide Web (WWW) was made at CERN by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, 1994 really was the “Year of the Web”.
By the end of 1994, the Web had 10,000 servers, of which 2,000 were commercial, and 10 million users. Traffic was equivalent to shipping the entire collected works of Shakespeare every second. The technology was continually extended to cater for new needs.
So… what are we talking about? Simply this. Once again, we are at an equally significant turning point. Its time to wake up and realize everything has changed.
Just as the web seemed difficult for many to get their minds wrapped around, it now is very tough for many to get it that the time has come for including your own company TV Show into your marketing.
The technology is here and we can help you.
As we partner with you in making video a part of your business, we can further assist you in evaluating your product or service and help you to determine if now just might be the time to step up and begin leading your market via your own Internet TV Show.
