Nitrogen Video: Behind the Scenes
January 23, 2008

Lauren Concrete (Austin, TX) was the site for our shoot, originally commissioned for National Geographic for a special program they are doing examining construction techniques for bridges.
We were brought in by Air Liquide, manufacturers of the Cryocrete™ nitrogen cooling equipment and commissioned to capture and document how nitrogen is injected into a concrete truck prior to delivery (thus cooling down the load for greater strength).
As the nitrogen rolled across the cool ground in the early morning, we started the shoot at 6:30 am to capture the action as Air Liquide’s Cryocrete equipment flawlessly performed it’s magic in lowering the temperature of concrete for delivery.
Given that for several years I lived only 2 blocks away from the unfortunate and tragic bridge collapse in Minneapolis, I can appreciate the added strength and professional processes that Air Liquide (Houston) and Austin’s own Lauren Concrete incorporate into their concrete production.
